What is a rhinoplasty or ‘nose job’?

A Nose Job or Rhinoplasty describes the same. It is the term used to describe a number of operations designed to reshape the nose. The nose may be straightened, or a hump reduced in size. The tip of the nose may be altered. Dips and depressions on the bridge of the nose may be corrected. Abnormalities inside the nose causing twisting or blockage may be corrected.

Is nose surgery painful?

As with every operation, it is normal to feel discomfort and mild pain after nose surgery, be it functional, aesthetic or a combination of both. The pain is manageable in almost all cases purely with the use of Non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) such as Paracetamol or Ibuprofen and most of my patients are just taking the pain relief for the first 5 days post-op.

How long does a nose job/rhinoplasty last?

The idea of a surgical rhinoplasty is to create a long-lasting result without any further revision operations. I work according to the idea of GIRFT: Getting It Right First Time. But in order to create the best result possible finetuning procedures, non-surgical or surgical, may be needed.

Who is the ideal candidate for rhinoplasty?

There are two sides to an ideal candidate: Ideally without major adverse medical conditions and in general good medical condition. But there are always ways to work around such conditions and to improve them pre-surgery if needed and to perform the surgery with an experienced team in a top-class facility.

More important is that the patient and surgeon are on the same page prior to the surgery and that the patient is very clear about his/her wishes, and the limitations of surgery and that the expectations are managed appropriately. All this takes time and is the main part of the pre-op consultations.

How much is the cost of rhinoplasty?

Each rhinoplasty is costed individually based on the patients exact requirements. If you are interested in finding out a price quote we would advise you to book a consultation here.
